RedRock Fashion is an independent clothing boutique with an alternative style. All of their collections are pattern cut, designed and produced in house. During my time at Redrock I designed and demonstrated pattern cutting skills to help make items for their Autumn/ Winter and Spring/ Summer collections.

I would help with the design process of each garment from research to construction. It was very creative and I really enjoyed being able to pattern cut, grade the pattern and make the garment ready for sale. Redrock Fashion sold their garments via www.redrockfashion.com, ASOS Marketplace and Boutique stores.

ALEXANDER MCQUEEN | EMBROIDERY DESIGN INTERN

Mixture of fabric dyed buttons, normal buttons and swarovski crystals.

Mixture of buttons which have been spay painted, fabric dyed and lace stretched over them.
Mixed Swarovski crystals and tube bead sewn stud up right for texture.

Some of the embroidery work I done whilst I work at Alexander McQueen as a Intern. Whilst I was there I also produce drawings for embroidery designs for their AW11/12 collection and their ready to wear store collection.

I was able to be creative with my embroidery designs painting and dying buttons or covering them in lace and mixing them with Swarovski crystals and tube beading. This created arrange of different textures and patterns.

FINAL YEAR COLLECTION | GRADUATE FASHION WEEK 2010

This is my BA Hon fashion graduate collection, inspired by vintage jewels and the artist Dale Chihuly who creates glass sculptures inspired by natural forms. My collection was a year long project and required a lot of research and planning as I wanted to hand paint all the garments I made.

As my chosen are area was textile design I really wanted to combine my print and dye technical knowledge with garment construction. By painting large paper paintings I really developed my painting technique so I could get a really good paint effect when I painted my collection.

After testing different fabrics with different dye mixtures I decided to make my collection from 1005 natural cotton as it took to being dyed and painted the best. All my fabrics dyes was developed specially for painting with and so they fixed and when the garments was wash they would not run into each other.

My inspiration for the shapes was based on my love for vintage clothing especially the eras 1950's and 1960's. By using vintage patterns and cutting patterns I was able to achieve the shapes I wanted, they really complimented the print work. Each garment took me one to two weeks to complete and still till today I'm really please with my whole collection.

I was so happy for my collection to be selected for Graduate Fashion Week 2010 and to see it featured in local news and the River Island graduate fashion week blog.
